The mum of a type one diabetes sufferer is holding a fundraising event for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation tomorrow at the White Horse Country Park in Westbury.

Donna-Michelle Hall, of Staverton, wants to raise awareness of the condition suffered by her daughter Cerys-Anne, 11, who was diagnosed two years ago.

She also wants to raise money for JDRF.

A Delightfully Vintage Affair, from 1.30-6pm, will have 18 stalls, with vintage and handmade products for adults, and a raffle.

There will also be face painting and a performance from Buttons the Clown for children.

A ticket-only event, from 7.30pm, will feature performances from the Jo Farrell Band and Miss Cherry Bomb, plus burlesque acts Dulcie Demure and Bella Rouge.

Mrs Hall, who also runs the Insulin Gang website for children with type one diabetes, said: “I am very keen to educate people on the difference between type one and type two diabetes and raise more awareness.

“There are a lot of misconceptions about type one and I was ignorant about it before Cerys was diagnosed. But the more we can do to fund research and spread awareness the better.

“JDRF do amazing amounts of research into what may cause type one and there will be a representative from them at the event to provide more information.

“It should be a fantastic day and there is going to be lots of vintage and handmade goodies for people to buy during the afternoon, as well as some fantastic acts in the evening.”
