Media students from the Wiltshire College Chippenham campus were in their element at London’s Film Museum in Covent Garden.
A highlight was the chance to have pictures taken on part of an authentic Star Wars set.
The first years were in London as part of a two-day field trip, where they also took a walking tour with a graphic designer of contemporary street art in Shoreditch and saw a screening of the Ice Man at the British Film Institute.
There was also a visit to the British Board of Film Classification.
Curriculum manager for media, visual and performing arts Michael Keenan said: “It was impressive to see our students engage, discuss and debate with media industry professionals on the social issues and impact films have on our modern culture.”
Jasmine Dempsey, 17, of Chippenham said: “There was never a point where we were wondering what to do, it was great.”
