Wettest west Wiltshire summer for 62 years
This year has seen the wettest summer in 62 years in west Wiltshire according to Steple Ashton-based amateur weatherman Geoff Witts.
Despite an improving end to the summer, Mr Witts recorded 299mm of rainfall over June, July and August, the most recorded since 1951, and beating the results for 1965 by 13.2mm.
Last month’s temperatures were also slightly above average, making it the warmest August since 2006, with a peak temperature of 29.5 degrees on August 1.
