Staff at the Avenue Surgery in Warminster will be among hundreds of women taking part in this year’s Bath Midnight Walk on Saturday in aid of Dorothy House Hospice Care.
GP Lindsay Kinlin, nurse Lisa Geary, prescription clerk Gaynor Grant and receptionists Kate Lindsay, Anna Jessup and Jane Oakley hope to raise more than £1,000 for the charity.
Over the years, the surgery has referred many patients to Dorothy House and staff know how important the hospice is to local people.
The event, now in its seventh year, is raising funds for Hospice at Home, a vital service that has helped countless patients and families cope with the reality of terminal illness.
Dr Kinlin said: “Dorothy House supports people in so many ways, whether it’s at home, in the Day Patient Unit or in-patient care and respite. I know patients I refer there will receive high quality of care.
“The symptomatic support provided in people’s homes by the specialist nurses, as well as by the clinical team at Winsley is very skilled.
“Dorothy House has also provided great emotional support to a number of my patients.”
Many women taking part will go out in their nightwear, reflecting this year’s focus on Hospice at Home, which takes care of people in their homes in the last few weeks of life.
Head receptionist Kate said: “We wanted to all do something together so we thought it would be fun. Dorothy House is something we are close to.”
Starting at SouthGate shopping centre at midnight, the walk will take an 8km circular route.
