Celebration disco honours friends of late Corsham firefighter
12:00pm Friday 13th September 2013 in News
Friends and relatives of the late Corsham firefighter Martin O’Shea will hold a celebration to hand over the money raised in his honour.
Mr O’Shea died in June, eight months after being diagnosed with an aggressive form of Motor Neurone Disease. More than £20,000 was raised following his diagnosis, with former teammates at Corsham Centre FC playing a charity match against the Swindon Town Youth Team and colleagues from Corsham Fire Station walking 22 miles along the Kennet and Avon canal path in full kit.
April’s Corsham 10k was also run in his honour.
The money will be divided between charities including the Motor Neurone Disease Association and Dorothy House Hospice.
Presentations will be made at a free disco at the Corsham Community Centre at 8pm on Saturday, September 21.
Pete Ralph, his brother-in-law, said: “It’s going to be a happy night.”
