Pigeon food message is getting out in Trowbridge
4:00pm Saturday 21st September 2013 in News
Leaflets for the Wiltshire Times’ Don’t Feed The Pigeons campaign have been handed out by staff at The Shires Shopping Centre in Trowbridge.
The Times launched the campaign with the centre last month, to reduce the numbers of pigeons in the town.
The aim of the campaign is to make Trowbridge cleaner and to get rid of the risk to public health. Sarah-Louise Moore, centre manager, said: “We want visitors to the Shires to enjoy a pleasant environment and although we’ve put up various deterrents such as netting and spikes many birds roost in the most inaccessible places and we can’t get at them.”
It is hoped that if the public stop feeding them the pigeons will move elsewhere.
Since launching, the campaign has received support from Trowbridge Town Council, Trowbridge Town Team, Trowbridge Chamber of Commerce and Warmin-ster Town Council.
