Westbury residents raise concerns over abandoned horse
Concerns have been raised by residents in Danvers Way, Westbury, about an abandoned horse mysteriously left tethered on a green in the road since midday yesterday.
According to people living in the road, which is just off Bitham Park, the horse was previously left tethered on the green from September 27-29, before it was taken away by the owners.
The horse was returned to the spot yesterday, but has not been provided with any food or water by those who left it there and residents believe it has a damaged horseshoe.
Ross Frampton, who lives opposite the green in Danvers Way, said: “We don’t have a clue who has left it there, but a lot of the residents are concerned about it, because it has no food or water.
“I contacted the RSPCA yesterday and again this morning, but they said they were too busy. The horse looks in distress and it is very upsetting for the children around the area.
“We have been going out to untangle it every 30 minutes or so and give it something to drink, but it needs to be looked after properly.”
Police are currently investigating the matter and have made contact with the RSPCA.
