THE people of Crockerton turned out in force and got into the festive spirit with a candlelit carol procession on Thursday.

Organised by the friends of Crockerton Primary School and Crockerton Millennium Committee, villagers of all ages sang their way through the streets and gathered around the Christmas tree as the vicar blessed it and the lights were switched on.

After the singing and blessings were over, the crowd made its way to the marquee at the Bath Arms for mulled wine and mince pies.

Marion Thomas, chairman of Crockerton Millennium Committee said: "We were very pleased with the turnout and it was a lovely atmosphere. I'd also like to thank Dean, the landlord at the Bath Arms."

  • A procession of people carrying lanterns wound their way from Matravers School to All Saints Church in Westbury last Wednesday for the town's festival of light.
