Wiltshire Council drafted in extra crews in preparation for St Jude’s storm which struck the country yesterday.
The storm, which saw torrential rain and winds of 80mph hit the region, resulted in around 200 trees and branches needing to be cleared from roads and pathways.
Around 120 staff dealt with the problems with an additional 15 crews being enlisted.
Balfour Beatty Living Places, who oversee the council’s highways contract, worked with region’s other litter pickers, sweepers and community teams to cleared the debris.
Wiltshire Councillor John Thomson, cabinet member for highways, said: “Our teams have worked tirelessly to keep the highways clear during this recent bad weather.
“The hard work will continue as we strive to make sure our roads and footways stay as clear as possible during the autumn and winter months.”
