Razors were called into action all across Wiltshire last weekend, as fundraising efforts for Movember came to an end for another year.

The annual month-long facial hair growing campaign aims to raise funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate and testicular cancer.

Among those taking part in the challenge were Westbury-based packaging manufacturers Welton, Bibby and Baron, with around 15 employees becoming ‘Mo Bros’ for the month.

Production director for the firm, which is in the West Wilts Trading Estate, Jamie Goudie said: “The guys raised £675 in the end and the company has matched that. There were some interesting designs and all the guys involved did a great job.”

Elsewhere, 12 members of staff at Nestle in Staverton raised more than £1,000 for the Movember Appeal, with those taking part getting their moustaches shaved off at Gents Hairdressers in Devizes last Friday.

Employee James Winchester said: “It’s great we’ve been able to reach the £1,000 mark.

“It has been lots of fun and there have been some weird and wonderful efforts.”

Members of the Wiltshire Times editorial team had success with their own well-groomed efforts, as they managed to edge past last year’s total of £465.

Deputy editor Neville Smith, photographer Glenn Phillips, content editor Bruno Clements and reporters Craig Jones and Andy Baber raised £539 for the appeal.

Customers and staff at the Bath Arms in Crockerton, meanwhile, got in on the action, organised by Barclays Bank manager Nikki Spreadbury-Clews and pub landlord Dean Carr.

The Mo Bros and Mo Sistas managed to raise £560 in total, including £174 through a charity breakfast at the pub, which will be doubled to £1,120 by Barclays Bank.
