West Wiltshire Amnesty Group is encouraging people to show their solidarity with prisoners of conscience by writing personal messages to them.
The Write for Rights campaign asks the public to send messages of support to people who are behind bars for exercising their human rights.
The group will meet at the Cooperative Cafe in Bradford on Avon tomorrow from 10am-12pm and Duncan Hames, MP for Chippenham, will be visiting to sign cards at 11.30pm.
Pete Colegate, of West Wiltshire Amnesty Group, said: “Letters of solidarity can make a real difference to people imprisoned, or in danger, for exercising their human rights. It reminds them they are not alone, and by showing the authorities that the world knows what is going on, it can help secure a prisoner’s release, stop the harassment or change an unjust law.”
