WARMINSTER Area Board approved more than £17,000 of grants during its meeting at the Civic Centre, including £3,000 for the Deverills Festival of the Performing Arts.
The event, from May 2 to 5 in all of the Deverill villages, will have more than 20 music, drama and dance attractions.
Last Thursday’s board meeting also approved £5,000 for the Tynings Allotments and Leisure Gardens Asso-ciation, for irrigation work including sinking a borehole to supply the allotment plots with water.
Wessex Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre’s request for £3,000 – to provide cover and shade over a patio in its new therapy garden – was approved, while Warminster Town FC got £3,000 for new soakaways.
A grant of £1,500 was given to Upton Lovell Youth Group for a South Wales Adventure in the Brecon Beacons and Warminster Cycle Group got £1,000 for the 6th Warminster Wobble festival of cycling.
Grants were also awarded to Maiden Bradley, for an IT project, and Corsley Reading Room, for a hearing loop.
