A Whitley man has been remanded in custody after appearing at Swindon Magistrates Court this morning charged with arson with intent to endanger life.
On Saturday, at around 3am, 57-year-old John Marshall's home, owned by Selwood Housing Association, in Eden Grove, Whitley caught light, the court heard.
The defence made no application for bail and the Crown Prosecution Service said he posed a serious risk to members of the public.
Marshall was remanded in custody, and the case will appear before Swindon Crown Court on Friday, February 14.
