A driver suffered serious injuries in a head-on collision on the A36 at Codford, near Warminster, on Friday evening.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which involved a white Ford Transit flatbed and a silver Peugeot 206.

The collision happened at about 5.45pm outside the Hillside Cafe and Toran Indian restaurant.

The driver of the Peugeot was treated by Wiltshire Air Ambulance paramedics at the scene and taken to the major trauma centre at Southampton General Hospital.

The driver of the Transit suffered minor injuries.

The A36 was closed in both directions for two hours.
