The Environment Agency is expected in Bradford on Avon to look at putting flood defences in place as the town prepares for more rain tonight.
The agency will be working with Wiltshire Council, Wiltshire Police and Wiltshire Fire & Rescue Service to try and prevent the Kennet and Avon Canal flooding.
A Wiltshire Council spokesperson said: “When the Environment Agency arrive we are going to work with them to look at the feasibility of putting defences in place.”
The key areas of concern in Bradford on Avon are the Bull Pit and the town bridge. During this winter’s severe rainfall Bradford on Avon’s residents and motorists have been regularly affected with the town bridge being closed to commuters over Christmas after it flooded.
