Golden-Oldies seek singing seniors
1:47pm Monday 10th February 2014 in News
A leading south west charity is looking to budding old-age singers to join its new Wiltshire choirs.
Golden-Oldies started in 2008 with four singing and activity sessions, and now runs over 80 months groups for lonely people across the region.
The charity, whose patron is Sir Cliff Richard, already runs sessions in Trowbridge and Melksham, and is now looking to set up singing groups in Chippenham and Devizes.
Bath-based founder of the charity and choir leader Grenville Jones said; “We are certainly not looking for choir conductors.
“The first requirement is a strong singing voice and an enthusiasm to really get involved and take the work of our new charity forward across the area. Session takers do not have to play an instrument as we use backing tracks.
“Through the development of our charity I have realised just how many lonely and isolated people there are. Singing makes you smile and is a great way of making new friends.”
