Formal plans have been submitted for the new community campus development at Melksham House.

The Grade II-listed social club, which is also home to Melksham Town Footbal Club and Melksham Rugby Football Club, will be completely redeveloped, in the biggest change to Melksham town centre in decades.

The Wiltshire Council-operated Blue Pool in the Market Place will be completed demolished, with two new swimming pools incorporated into the Campus.

The 14.7 acre site will provide a new state-of-the-art home for Melksham Cricket and Tennis clubs, and will include indoor and outdoor bowls facilities, making Melksham the county's premier location for the sport.

A sports hall with squash courts will also be included, along with a new library and cafe.

The town's football and rugby clubs are due to move to a new shared facility at Woolmoore Farm, which is expected to open by the end of the year.

The plans will be considered by Melksham Town Council, before being passed to Wiltshire Council's planning department for final approval.
