A major project to plant 26,000 trees has been completed at Thoulstone Park, near Chapmanslade.

Lead by contractor Glendale Countryside’s woodland and countryside manager Bill Griffiths and his Marlborough-based team, it was delivered on time and on budget.

This is the second scheme completed for the owners of the park, James and Alka Hughes-Hallett, after Glendale carried out a similar substantial planting project for them in Somerset between 2007 and 2009.

The owners are eventually aiming to create an eco-sustainable community focusing on tourism and leisure, and the woodland is the first phase of the programme.

As part of involving the local community in the Thoulstone Park project, a special tree planting event is being held this weekend, and the owners are seeking volunteers to go along and help put the finishing touches to the brand new woodland.

The event is taking place on Saturday February 15 and Sunday February 16 from 10am to 3pm at Thoulstone Park.
