A health and wellbeing fair to launch a new Wiltshire fitness strategy was held last week.

Held at County Hall, in Trowbridge, it was used to highlight Wiltshire Health and Wellbeing Board’s aims for 2014/15 which include promoting healthy lifestyles to help Wiltshire residents to live longer. It is a joint strategy between Wiltshire Council and Wiltshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Visitors could have a full body MOT, try out hula hoops and make their own smoothie by cycling on a bike powering a blender. Wiltshire Council leader, Jane Scott and Dr Stephen Rowlands, CCG chairman, showed how to do it.

Cllr Scott said: “The strategy is about ensuring that everyone in Wiltshire has equal access the support that they need.”

Dr Rowlands said: “Now more than ever it is absolutely vital that our groups have a health system that fits around you.”

Visitors to the fair could also learn more about charity Hope for Tomorrow who fund a mobile Chemotherapy Unit which travels to people across the region to provide cancer treatment.
