About 15 staff at Sainsbury’s in Devizes rode just under 100 miles on a static bike in the store on Friday.

Staff took it in turns to ride part of the way towards the 98.4 mile target, which is the equivalent of riding from Devizes to Sainsbury’s head office in London.

Staff also performed as a flash mob when Black Lace’s Superman song was played over the address system.

The store also had a treasure map for customers to pick a square to win a hamper.

So far the events have raised more than £1,380.

Sharon Robinson, an employee at the store, said: “ Customers in Devizes are so generous and are always interested in fundraising that we do.”

"All our customers who have been so supportive of our fundraising and help us make a difference in our community."

At Lavington School in Market Lavington students and staff did various activities at Friday lunchtime including welly wanging, a blind football penalty shoot out against deputy head Gary Ford, basketball shots and fancy dress competition as sports stars.

Entries included those dressed as David Beckham, Rebecca Adlington and Bradley Wiggins.

Despite the rain about 100 people took part in a Sport Relief mile in the school grounds with some doing it three legged and some getting a piggy back ride.

The activities were organised by a group of students who were trained as part of the London Olympic Games legacy. So far £830 has been raised.

Youngsters at Townsend Barn Nursery, Poulshot, kept active to raise money for Sport Relief and also the Gazette’s appeal for Devizes Opportunity Centre.

On Friday morning 33 children took part in an obstacle course featuring stilts, bean bags, egg and spoon and running through tyres.

In the afternoon youngsters aged one and two took part in yoga while the pre-school children were coached on cricket and had a go at batting, throwing and catching.

The nursery raised £70 on the day but is running a competition to guess a toy monkey’s name this week and hopes to raise £100 which will be split between the two charities.
