Sporting memorabilia from the 1911 Wilts Cup Final between Warminster and Salisbury is one of the items up for auction at Wessex Auction Rooms in Chippenham in May.

The auctioneers, which hold regular sporting memorabilia sales is holding one of its valuation and consignment days at the Salisbury City Football Ground from 10am-2pm next Wednesday.

The valuation service is free and it is hoped that owners will want to include their items in a the special sports auction scheduled for May 2.

A GWR handbill advertising excursions to attend the 1911 Wilts Cup final in Bradford on Avon, right, has already been entered and is valued at £30 to £40.

Auctioneer Tony Rampton said: “Typically, the most popular items in these sales are pre-1960s’ football programmes, but there is a healthy demand for vintage items relating to rugby, cricket, golf speedway, ice hockey, motor sport and the Olympics.”
