Children at Oasis Academy Longmeadow in Trowbridge are cheering on school support worker Kate Hails as she trains for the London Marathon.
The 34-year-old works in the school office and has been training hard for her first full marathon.
She said: “I did four half-marathons last year, using them as a build-up to London, then I picked up the training in December. I am tapering down now.”
A member of the Avon Vale Running Club, she has already run the Bath Half and Frome half -arathons, as well as the Great North and South runs.
“I am working on the assumption it is meant to be, as I entered for the first time and got in,” she said.
“There were 55,000 people in the Great North Run, it’s an absolutely amazing atmosphere, so I am hoping for that many people taking part, with even more cheering from the outside.”
She is raising funds for the Broadcloth Lane school, and will be running as part of the Oasis team.
She said: “I have run for charities before, and I try not to put too much pressure on sponsorship; everyone’s asking for something at the moment.” Details from the school.
