The Ginger Piggery in Boyton, near Warminster, officially opened The Thatched Barn on Saturday, after the redundant barn was rethatched and renovated.

It will be used for meetings, conferences, exhibitions and demonstrations, as well as for awayday events and private hire for weddings and celebratory meals.

The Thatched Barn is located within the Ginger Piggery Farm Shop and restaurant complex, which has a crafts barn and several studios, where activities and demonstrations took place throughout the open day.

The redundant Thatched Barn was rethatched by Ellis Butcher and renovated by Nick Hoath, a conservation builder, who used much of the old timber work in the refit.

Owner Caroline Wheatley-Hubbard said: “The original thatched barn is probably about 300 to 400 years old and as it’s such a significant building in Boyton we thought it would be good to rethatch it and bring it back into use.

“It will provide space for any events that we can think of, including weddings, demonstrations from The Ginger Piggery and meetings, and we also have good wi-fi.”

The barn contains a fully fitted kitchen and toilets for the disabled and is available to hire now. For more information, visit
