Teenage market to launch in Trowbridge
3:00pm Sunday 4th May 2014 in News
Trowbridge Town Team is looking to encourage young entrepreneurs in the area with the launch of a Teenage Market and a programme of business workshops from now until the end of the year. The aim of the market is for young people aged between 13 and 19 to run a stall where they can sell their own products, giving them the sort of entrepreneurial skills they can use in the future. Trowbridge Town Team is also offering young adults up to the age of 30 the opportunity to take part. The first opportunity to run a market stall will be on May 28, followed by a Teenage Market in early November. To coincide with the new market, chair of the Trow-bridge Town Team David Baker is offering a series of business workshops to give the participants a taste of The World of Work.
Mr Baker said: “The key is to give young people an opportunity to learn more about business and to give them the tools they will need to go on and get jobs or set up their own businesses.
“This is a great opportunity for young people to develop leadership, teamwork and retail skills, and to take part in masterclasses to improve their interviewing skills.”
Support for the market and the workshops has come from Trowbridge Area Board, Hitachi, St James Church, Active Trowbridge and The Youth Development Department.
The enterprise is being run as a free, first come, first served project, which it is hoped will become a sustainable part of Trowbridge Market Life in the future.
If you would like to have a stall at any of the markets, contact Ellie Gill at firstname.lastname@example.org For information about the workshops, email Mr Baker at email@example.com
