Highest earners have been biggest winners, says Labour

The highest earners have been the biggest winners from the economic recovery so far, according to figures compiled for Labour, as the latest employment figures were being released today.
Analysis by the House of Commons Library found the top one per cent - around 300,000 people - increased their share of national after-tax income from 8.2 per cent in 2012-13 to 9.8 per cent last year.
Meanwhile, the bottom 90 per cent - 27 million people - saw their share fall from 71.3 per cent to 70.4 per cent.
Chris Leslie, Shadow chief secretary to the Treasury, said the analysis - based on HM Revenue & Customs data - showed ordinary workers were being "left behind".
He said: "What we need is a recovery for the many, not just a few at the top."
