Organisers of this year’s Shaw May Fair are expecting visitors to crowd in to the village from across the county.

The biannual event takes place at the Beeches Playing Field on Saturday. The traditional vintage cars and children’s races will be joined this year by pony rides.

The yearly 10k Stampede will also take place at 2pm. Organiser Geoff Williams said: “It’s a 10k run over a mix of terrains, through roads and fields, which attracts runners from all the local running clubs. There’s also a fun run for the little ones which is free on the day.”

The Keane Kanter fun run is held in memory of Keane Meyers from Lacock, who died of non-Hodgkins lymphoblastic lymphoma in 2009.

Stalls will be set up around the fair selling homemade foods and craft products, along with a barbecue and cake stand.

Entry forms for the Shaw Stampede can be downloaded from www.avonvalleyrunners.org.uk; parents and children who wish to participate in the Keane Kanter 2k fun run need only turn up on the day.
