Children from Lacock School have been promoting the annual scarecrow trail by showing off some of the creations which will be on show over the May Bank Holiday weekend, May 24 to 26.

There will be nearly 50 scarecrows and models on the theme of countries on show in Lacock, with an additional pre-school children’s trail with its own theme of animals of the world.

Every year the event attracts thousands of visitors to the village, all helping to raise money for the local primary school.

Now in its 12th year, the trail has raised thousands of pounds for the village school which has benefited from new equipment, library books and the refurbishment of a new computer suite.

Local businesses in and around the village get behind the school’s efforts by sponsoring the event.

Whitehall Garden Centre and Sound Marketing in Melksham have again sponsored the event, while village jewellers Watlings have donated a £300 gift voucher to the winner of the trail.

Lacock Abbey and grounds are open to the public as normal.
