Spirits were high as hundreds of people turned out for Trowbridge Rugby Club’s community fun day at Doric Park on Saturday, as the club celebrated the end of a memorable first season at their new home.

The club, who achieved promotion and won the RFU Intermediate Cup at Twickenham, held the fun day as a way of thanking the community for their support, following its move from Green Lane last year.

More than 500 people attended the event and enjoyed attractions, including Wadworth shire horses, an inflatable bouncy castle, assault course, competitions and challenges, stalls, guest beers as well as a barbecue.

The event, which was also visited by Bath Rugby stars Stuart Hooper and Nick Abendanon, was hosted in conjunction with Avon Valley Runners, Red Hot Chillies Triathlon Club and Active Trowbridge.

Rugby operations manager Kevin Davis said: “It was a great way to finish off the season and we will now look at hopefully making it an annual event.”
