Gardeners will be given the chance to shine this September as Warminster Civic Centre puts on its first flower and vegetable show.

Ann Hedges, one of the organisers of the show on September 20, said: “It’s a day all the family can get involved in.

“We are sure there are loads of green-fingered enthusiasts just itching to show off their runner beans or dahlias.”

They are also calling for cooks to enter jams, chutneys, curds or cakes in the Great Warminster Bake-off.

There will be eight divisions and a total of 72 classes in the following categories: best exhibit, vegetables, novelty vegetables, flowers, pot plants, floral art, domestic and a children’s section.

Trophies and certificates will be awarded in each division.

Entry forms and schedules can be picked up from the Civic Centre, Information Centre and other outlets in the town.

They can also be downloaded from the Warminster Town Council website, at www.warminster.uk.com
