The A4 was closed to traffic in both directions at the roundabout at Pewsham Way, Chippenham, for over for hours after an accident yesterday afternoon.
A male motorcyclist was taken to Southmead Hospital, Bristol, following a crash on the A4 from Chippenham to Calne at 2.55pm.
The crash involved the motorcyclist and five cars, a silver Yaris, a white convertible Mini, a green Vauxhall Vectra, a Honda Jazz and a Citroen DS3.
Police closed the A4 between the roundabout at Pewsham Way and the bottom of Derry Hill for over four hours, finally re-opening it just after 7.30pm.
The motorcyclist, who was riding a blue and white Yamaha R6, suffered serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Police investigations are ongoing and any witnesses should call 101.
