Dinner jackets and elegant ball gowns were never more appropriate than for Clarendon Academy’s Year 11 Prom this year, which was themed around British Secret Service agent James Bond.

Pupils dressed up in their best suits and dresses and arrived in a range of luxury sports cars, including an Ariel Atom, for the evening at Cumberwell Park Golf Club last Thursday.

The entertainment included fake roulette wheels, card games and a magician to entertain partygoers, while there were also pictures of the pupils from over the years displayed.

Andy Ridyard, assistant head of sixth form, said: “There was absolute awe at Serge the Magician’s card tricks, sheer delight at some of their old photos on display, bucket oads of energy on the dance floor and then almost 500 party poppers going off at the finale.

“The Prom Committee did an amazing job and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely throughout the night.

“I don’t think anyone wanted to leave, but what an end to the year for such a wonderful group of Clarendon students.”
