A Melksham man who raped two young girls has been remanded in custody by a judge and told he faces a long jail sentence.

Mark Nash, 39, had denied the allegations but he was convicted following a two week trial at Swindon Crown Court.

Nash, of Awdry Avenue, was also found guilty of three counts of attempted rape, two indecent assaults and two counts of indecency with a child.

After the jury returned their verdicts on Friday, Judge Douglas Field ordered Nash be remanded in custody until July 17 and said: "Mr Nash, you face a long prison sentence."

The judge said he wanted a pre-sentence report from the probation service but only to assess whether Nash presented a significant risk of other serious offending.

The offences took place on two girls, one under 14 and the other under 16, between early 1999 and January 2004.

Nash and his wife Jodie, 31, of Acock Crescent, Warminster, were both found not guilty of a joint charge of indecency with a child.
