Work will start on Monday, July 14, to resurface an 8.5 mile section of the A303 near Chicklade, leading to smoother journeys for drivers.

The work will take place overnight between 8pm and 6am from Monday evening until Saturday morning and will require a full closure of the A303 in both directions between the A350 junction and the A36 Deptford junction.

No work will be carried out overnight on Saturdays or Sundays.

Mark Arberry, Highways Agency Project Sponsor, said: “The resurfacing work is part of the Government’s commitment to maintaining England’s roads. It will ensure smoother journeys and maintain safety.

“The work has been planned to minimise disruption, which is why work will take place overnight when traffic flows are lowest. But we advise drivers to plan their journeys and allow slightly extra time.”

The following fully signed diversion routes will be in place during the closures: Road users travelling eastbound will be directed to leave the A303 at Chicklade and travel along the A350 to Warminster before joining the A36 and continuing to the A303 junction at Deptford.

Westbound road users will be directed to leave the A303 at Deptford junction and continue along the A36 to Warminster, where they will join the A350 and continue to the A303 junction at Chicklade.
