A motorcyclist from the Devizes area died this morning after a head-on collision with a bus at Prison Bridge, Devizes.
Emergency services were called at 7.40am and the male motorcyclist was taken by land ambulance to the Royal United Hospital, Bath.
At first police described his injuries as life threatening but they later confirmed that he has died.
There were about six passengers on the bus but neither they or the bus driver were injured.
Diversions are in place via the A342 Dunkirk Hill and into Rowde and via the B3101 Marsh Lane linking to the A361 at Caen Hill, where traffic was having difficulty getting through.
Police say the A361 at Bath Road and Caen Hill in Devizes will remain closed until 12.30pm.
