A family-run Melksham pharmacy has applied for permission to extend its Bowerhill warehouse.

Gompels Healthcare has submitted plans for an extra 2,000 square metres of storage space at its premises on Swift Way.

As well as its store on Bank Street the firm runs an online wholesale business on the internet, which supplies medical and hygiene products to care homes and children’s homes across the country.

It has now applied to Wiltshire Council for permission to increase its warehouse capacity by 2,256 square metres, to develop the business.

When the warehouse was built in 2006 it caused residents on nearby Duxford Close to temporarily lose their television signal because when the metal frame for the building was put up it blocked aerial reception.
