Warminster School sixth formers achieved an increase in the number of top grades achieved at A-level this year, with one in three of the awarded grades A* or A.

Along with another strong performance from pupils who took the International Baccalaureate, the school’s results saw many celebrating after getting places at their chosen universities.

Among the top performers at the school was Matthew Stone, who recorded two A*s, an A and a B grade to confirm his place to read English at Exeter.

Hannah Connabeer, last year’s head girl, obtained A grades in chemistry, biology and geography and now looks forward to taking up her place at Southampton University to read Marine Biology.

While another outstanding performer was Meng Ge Yang from China, whose four A*s and one A grade secured her place at Warwick University to study Economics and Management.

Headteacher Mark Mortimer said: “These results are impressive and I am very pleased for the boys and girls concerned. Warminster is a school that prides itself on its ability to get the best from every pupil.

“While the staff and I are delighted that the percentage of top grades has risen yet again, we are equally proud of all the pupils, who have worked so tirelessly to get into their first-choice university.”
