Police in Devizes are trying to reunite stolen property with its rightful owners after arresting two suspects who had what is believed to be stolen property.

Officers have managed to identify some of these items as stolen but in particular they would like to hear from anyone who has had a quad bike stolen recently.

PC Jim Adams, Melksham CID, said: "The quad bike as also found with a child's motorcycle helmet and plastic motorbike body protector. It has some distinctive markings, but we have not found any reports of stolen quad bikes that match.

"The owner may not realise at this stage that it has been stolen."

In addition, officers discovered lots of fishing kit which is also believed to be stolen. There are fishing nets, folding chairs, large umbrella's, fishing rods and two large fishing rod carrier bags.

PC Adams said: "There are make names on some of the items but again owners may not know if they have been taken as yet so we would urge the public to check their sheds and garages to make sure their items are still there.

"If you believe that the property belongs to you, then please contact us with a description or photograph so that we can return the items to you."

A man aged 31 and a woman of 40 were arrested on July 27 and taken to Melksham police station. They have since been bailed to return on a date in September pending further enquiries.

If you think you are the owner of this property or know someone who is please contact PC Jim Adams on 01225 794739 or via 101. Alternatively call crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
