Trowbridge town crier Trevor Heeks hopes he will be in good voice when he competes at the World Town Crier championships, representing Wiltshire’s county town.
Although it’s 25 years since he won his first world title, Mr Heeks is going for glory again in Chester against contenders from Australia, New Zealand, Europe, Canada, England, Wales and even the tiny Channel Island, Alderney.
“It’s a three-day competition, and it would be great to win again,” said Mr Heeks, who lives in Staverton.
"I’ve competed in 154 competitions since I began as the town crier 28 years ago.
"Many of the criers I’ll be up against are younger than me, but I’m hoping my experience will stand me in good stead and I know I have the support of the people of Trowbridge.
"I’d like to thank all the people of Trowbridge for their support and assure them I’ll be doing my best for them in Chester.”
