TROWBRIDGE Pan’s People star Dee Dee Wilde is looking forward to her first appearance at major UK festival Bestival next week, where she will be hosting a dancing extravaganza.

The star, who danced with many '60s and '70s music icons on BBC TV’s Top Of The Pops, runs a dance club in Wiltshire incorporating dance exercises and routines reminiscent of her days with Pan’s People.

Miss Wilde, who lives in Rood Ashton, was asked to hold the dancing master class after recently holding a similar workshop with fellow Pan’s People member Babs Powell at Camp Bestival.

The event at Bestival will take place on the Saturday of the festival, which runs from September 4-7, from 6-8pm in the Come Dancing Tent in the Stardust Field, where there will be a workshop and knockout dance contest.

Miss Wilde said: “This is my first time at Bestival and I’m very excited to be part of one of the greatest summer festivals.

“I’ll be bringing my dance team with me and we can’t wait to get dancing.

“Our recent slot at Camp Bestival went down really well, so hopefully this will be the same. I will create the steps in the style of Pan’s People and then get everyone to follow me and learn them.

“We will then have a competition to determine the best male and female dancer, with prizes for winners. Anyone can come along between those times and they can just join in and have some fun.

“I’ve never done a festival like this before. Camp Bestival was a new experience and this will be another new challenge, but I’m really looking forward to it.”

Miss Wilde said that there will be a playlist containing a wide variety of music, from the retro sounds of the 60s and 70s to current music.

She added: “It’s very exciting to be asked to do it as it’s one of the best festivals.

“Everyone dresses up for it and it should be an absolutely fantastic occasion for people of all ages.”
