Outdoor types are being urged to pull on their boots for the Bradford on Avon Walking Festival.

The three-day festival, which follows the theme of Water, Wool and Wheels, starts on Friday, and the first event is a 10-mile circular walk starting at the town’s station at 10.50am.

On September 5, 6 and 7 there are 11 walks – from 1.5 miles up to 10 miles.

There are shorter walks for bird watchers, bat spotters and people interested in wild herbs, all led by experts.

People keen to explore the town can join the Heritage Walk or the Quirky Corners of Bradford on Avon walk.

There is a 10-mile walk taking in fields, lanes and the canal path, a nine-mile stroll that goes through Bath’s Two Tunnels and an eight-mile event with a guided tour of the Claverton Pumping Station alongside the Kennet and Avon Canal.

Tickets can be bought from the Tourist Information Centre, in person or over the phone on 01225 865797. More details at www.walkbradfordonavon.org
