Teenager Annabel Prees staged a marathon event in memory of her little sister, who shared her love of music.
Annabel Prees organised 12 hours of performances by local bands and singers in Colerne Village Hall on Saturday to raise money for the Jemima’s Gift charity.
Her sister Jemima died in February last year aged ten when she hit a tree while skiing in Austria.
Jemima was part of the Corsham Wind Band Association, which took part in Saturday’s music marathon, joined by 16-year-old Annabel on the oboe.
Annabel said: “Jemima played the euphonium. She’d only been playing for about a year so wasn’t amazing but she loved it. It’s a very large instrument for a small girl.
“I think she would have been really excited about this event and very proud of me for doing it.
“Jemima was loved by a lot of people. A lot of people have approached me and said, ‘can we bake some cakes?’.”
Her parents, Karen and Tim, also paid musical tribute to Jemima as well – Mrs Prees on viola and piano and Mr Prees on a variety of brass instruments - and her other sister Olivia, 19, was there.
Mr and Mrs Prees set up the charity Jemima’s Gift to provide opportunities for other children to achieve their full potential.
The fund, which has reached £50,000, provides opportunities for other children in sports, the arts and learning activities who might be held back because of a lack of funding.
