The fate of Phones4U employees in Wiltshire was uncertain tonight after the BBC reported that the firm had 'collapsed into adminstration'.
Phones4U has hundreds of stores, including those in Devizes, Trowbridge and Chippenham, which the BBC said would be closed tomorrow with the loss of 6,000 jobs.
The end of a deal with the EE network was blamed for the end of Phones4U, which was founded in the 1980s at the start of the mobile phone era.
Will Guyatt, who works for Instagram and comments on technology for the Wiltshire Times, tweeted: "The inevitable end of Phones4U after this move means less choice for consumers and more chance for networks to jack up costs. BAD."
