A Warminster beauty salon is taking on the challenge of raising £9,500 for Dorothy House, the amount the Winsley hospice needs to raise every day.
Karen Usher owns Just Beauty in Warminster High Street and is organising a Glitz & Glamour Party on October 18 in memory of her friend Fiona Akers, who was cared for by Dorothy House.
Mrs Akers lost her battle with breast cancer in 2005 at the age of just 33, leaving her husband, Adam, and two small daughters.
Karen said: “I have lovely memories of her smiling and laughing when I visited her at the hospice. It made all her friends and family a little happier, knowing Fi was calm and comfortable, which helped us forget for a little while what she was battling.”
Beth Usher, who also works at the salon, is co-ordinating the invitation-only gala event, which includes a raffle-tickets are on sale at the salon.
Prizes already include a diamond and pearl necklace worth £800, donated by The Warminster Jewellers, a Mulberry handbag which retails at £750, and Center Parcs day passes, to name a few.
