Bomb disposal experts have been working at a house in Frome Road, Trowbridge, and a man has been arrested after "inert substances" were found at the property.
Wiltshire Police began inquries on Friday fter a tip-off from a member of the public.
A force spokesman said the Explosive Ordnance Disposal team was working to remove the substance which is not thought to be of any danger.
The house, near Clarendon Academy, remains sealed off.
