DEVIZES bounced back from their disappointing previous result at Windsor to comprehensively put new boys Bletchley to the sword in South West One East.

Rory Brown’s early penalty got the Saddlebacks on the board before a well-worked move splintered the defence and Tom Collins darted over for a try that Brown converted.

A further Brown penalty moved the home side further in front and a second try briskly followed as winger Chris Barter sent Mark Carter galloping clear of the defence for a converted score.

With Bletchley a man down due to a sin-binning, Luke Rapson’s fine footwork set up Barter for his fifth try of the season.

The visitors responded with their first score, but Jorge Wadman caught the restart and offloaded to Josh Lewis who powered over in the corner for his first try for the first team.

Brown kicked the conversion from a tough angle to put Devizes into a commanding 32-5 lead.

The Saddlebacks continued to threaten in the second half and Brown got his first try of the day by powering through the defence and adding the conversion before touching down for his second – a carbon copy of the first.

Devizes used their replacements but Barter added his second after good play by the pack before a break from Chris Lewis set up the position from which Mark Warburton went over for his first try of the season, Brown converting.
