Rock and metal enthusiasts were in their element on Saturday when annual Trowbridge fundraiser Rock Diabetes returned to the Civic Centre.

The festival, now in its third year, saw more than 20 bands take to the two stages throughout the day and perform to hundreds of rock and metal fans at the packed venue in aid of the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.

Among acts performing this year were headliners Diamond Head, as well as Skreamer, Fury, The Heretic Order, Black Forge, Jaguar, Flashfires, Left For Red and many more.

The event, which was first held at the White Horse Country Park in 2012, also included entertainment for children, stalls, hot food, an auction and a prize draw.

Dave Taylor, who organises Rock Diabetes with Dough Harvey, said: “It went fantastically well and we had a much better turn out than we did last year. There must have been at least 500 people there.

“Having so many people pack out the Civic Centre meant that the atmosphere was amazing and everyone had a great time watching the acts.

“The feedback we have had has all been excellent.

“The headliners Diamond Head were definitely one of the main highlights, while Fury and Black Forge were also great. Everyone who performed on the day did a fantastic job.

“The stalls and the children’s’ entertainment also went down well and we are delighted that it was such a success. We think we may have raised around £4,000 for JDRF, which is excellent.”

Funds raised will go towards JDRF, which is a type 1 diabetes charity that carries out research into better treatment for young diabetes sufferers, as well as preventing and eventually curing the illness.
