A Winsley Christmas tree company has given a 25ft tree to Bradford on Avon to thank the town for supporting its business.

Nick Durnford, owner of Fine Pines, Church Farm, said the Norway spruce tree, which has been put up at the railway station, had taken 25 years to grow. His business has customers nationwide but he wanted to give its home town a present.

He said: “The people of Bradford on Avon have supported us, so this is us giving back to the community.”

The tree has been decorated with 3,000 LED white lights, so Mr Durnford believes it should only cost £10 to run for December.

Dave Walden has worked at the station for more than 10 years as both an employee and as a volunteer and believes the 9,000 commuters a week will appreciate it.

Mr Walden is part of a group of volunteers, who call themselves the Bradford garden gang, which helps the Heart of Wessex Line to tidy up the gardens either side of the station. The tree will be up until January 3.
