Wiltshire residents are being encouraged to carry on recycling over the busy festive period, but to be aware that collection days will change.
All waste and recycling collection days will move over the festive period, with no collections taking place on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Normal collections are due to resume on Monday, January 19, with garden waste collections suspended between Monday, December 22, and Tues-day, January 6.
Bins should be put out by 7am on the revised day and all waste should be contained inside, with the lid closed.
Cllr Toby Sturgis, Wiltshire Council cabinet member for waste services, said: “Christmas is a great time of year, but with the wrapping paper, cards as well as extra food and drink we all need to remember to reduce, reuse and recycle as much of our waste as possible.”
Real Christmas trees can be left alongside the garden waste bins from January 7-31, with households being asked to cut any Christmas trees over six feet tall into manageable pieces.
Christmas trees can also be recycled at any of the 11 household recycling centres in Wiltshire.
These will be closed from 1pm on Christmas Eve, and all day on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
At all other times, the centres will be operating on their normal winter opening hours, from 9am to 4pm.
