CHRISTMAS has come early for one Trowbridge family, after Priscilla Lawson was victorious in the Wiltshire Times’ £500 Cash for Xmas competition.
Mrs Lawson, 61, of Matthews Farm, Pomeroy Lane, Wingfield, was one of hundreds of readers who collected tokens to enter. She plans to spend some of the money on a special Christmas meal for her husband and two sons, Oli and Tim.
She said: “When my husband told me I had won I thought it was a wind up, but then I realised I hadn’t told him I’d entered. I get the paper every week, but I don’t often enter competitions.
“I have never won even so much as a raffle before, as I’m not very lucky like that, but it’s great to win and now I just have to decide what to spend it on.
“Both my sons are coming home for Christmas and we are planning on going to our local, The Poplars Inn, for carol singing, so I think I’ll treat us to a nice meal.
"One of my sons has just qualified as a charted accountant, so it will be a double celebration."
