I have reason to travel to Melksham regularly, and have noticed the state the road (the A350) is getting into between Hag Hill and the Semington roundabout.
The round patches of missing Tarmac are slowly growing bigger, and if nothing is not done soon there could be a serious accident if a motorbike’s front wheel gets onto the edge of a hole and the front slides an inch or two, then they are off.
The road is fast and on a long curve where some of the holes are. Why has it broken up? (do not try and blame the weather).
It seems that it was not joined with the right tack coat or compound to the surface it was laid on, or it could be diesel, spilt when cleaning tar off the tools and lorries.
On many roundabouts there are gaps appearing showing where it was not joined with the right tack coat or bonding agent for the job and not married in together.
